I Love Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli movies...

I've decided to start a series of paintings based on my favorites. The first here is my version of a scene from My Neighbor Totoro released in 1988. This is when Totoro's magic makes the garden grow. My Totoro was based on a Tarsier which is a small primate from the Phillipines.

I know... he looks like a big cat!

This next one is based on "Princess Mononoke " from 1997. Ashitaka is the main character and here he's riding his Red Elk Yakkul. Miyasaki is a master of light and shadow.

we are HUGE Miyazaki fans!! And Totoro is one of my favorites. I'm convinced that somehow Mr. Miyazaki learned of my girls, and turned them into Satsuki and Mai!!

He is amazing!!! And, I think your illustration is fantastic! And another weird coincidence, is that you used a Tarsier as a reference. My youngest is an avid endangered animal warrior and one of her favorite animals is the tarsier. Not very many people know what one is.

Can't wait to see what you do next in this series!!

Michelle, Thank you! I just posted my new one- take a look!

It's so weird those coincidences- if your family just got a guinnea pig and named her Princess then I'll know something's goign on!
